MathPlus enrichment program is designed to provide students with a challenging, engaging learning experience and more fun with math. Mathematics is a prominent part of human thought and logic, central to attempts at understanding the world and ourselves. In addition, mathematical knowledge jibes with understanding the contents of other school subjects such as science, social studies, and even music and art. Our approach allows us to successfully interweave mathematics and afterschool activities. We accommodate children ages 5 to 17 years, present a rigorous curriculum and academical structure that prepare students for college and beyond. We help students develop strong mathematical thinking and problem-solving skills, as well as a deep understanding of mathematical concepts. Problem solving is an important skill that students need to develop in mathematics. It is not just about memorizing formulas and procedures, but also about being able to think critically and creatively to find solutions to unique problems. Instructors strive to apply techniques aimed at capitalizing on student thinking. Our goal is to leverage student curiosity and other higher-order thinking skills strongly associated with optimal learning outcomes.

Joining MathPlus allows students to learn and ultimately improve math achievements through social and academic growth. Students are challenged to develop critical thinking skills that aid them throughout their lives. We promote a deeper sense of appreciation for an array of ways of approaching problems. Instructors present students with opportunities for enrichment and acceleration. Our year-round program offers students opportunities to learn beyond the standard school curriculum, such as through summer programs, in-person and online courses, as well as independent study.

Classes are typically personalized and adaptive and consist of no more than six children. Instructors seek to adapt to the individual needs of each student, so that they can learn in their own innate way. Student-faculty interactions enable our instructors to measure students’ learning progress, provide helpful critique and recognize misconceptions. We emphasize working together, and seat students in a way that specifically encourages small-group work based on collaboration.

Math competitions can be a valuable learning experience for students of all levels. They provide an opportunity to challenge oneself, develop problem-solving skills, and learn to think critically and creatively. In addition, math competitions can help students to build confidence in their mathematical abilities, meet other students who share their interests, and experience the excitement of becoming more effective learners.

Joining our math club and team allows students to focus on Kangaroo Math and Math Counts competitions. Classes are taught by an instructor with a wide breadth of knowledge associated with unique math competitions. These preparatory courses allow students to engage with math competitions through first and foremost practice. Students will practice solving problems from a variety of sources and will develop comfort working under relative pressure.

Math competitions are team-based, which can help students to develop their teamwork and communication skills. These skills are essential for success in college and in the future workplace.
